One of the best meals I’ve had in my life. Each dish was carefully prepared with delicious compliment of flavours. We did the 6 course lunch menu and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back again. Thanks for the exceptional service as well!
Review for the restaurant only.
Lovely to find a tasting menu in the highlands with all local ingredients. Decently priced from the perspective of NYC tasting menus. Straight down the middle with the courses, everything was good kind of what’d you expect. Nothing crazy wild/innovative, they played it safe. The wine pairing was also solid - no complaints.
It was a good experience to find a delicate menu after eating all the piles of delicious seafood! Staff was super friendly as well. Would recommend if you want a change of pace for a quieter, cozy date night on your road trip in the highlands. Location is a 3 star because of its remote location. And there are prob <10 rooms within 10 minute drive. But this is what also makes this restaurant so unique and worth a visit. Kind of crazy to think this place even exists in Edinbane. Very lovely!
For the restaurant only.
Had the tasting menu for dinner. Every main dish was so perfect. The missing one star is for the desserts. The flavors for all 3 desserts are quite weird. Also, it would be better if the crackers can be less oily. And it would be nice if not followed with fried oysters, as both are fried, and can be too oily.
Did not stay at hotel. Booked for lunch. We had the four course taster menu. The fish courses, selection of breads and pudding were really exceptional. Excellent wines by the glass. However, have deducted one star for the wagyu beef dish: two out of four diners had chewy sinew running through their meat.
Amazing and interesting presentations of locally sourced food.
We were surprised however when our server asked us to keep our utensils for the next course. Also when setting new silver at some points our server crossed in front of us with their arms. Not what was expected for such high ratings and an award winning restaurant. We raised a concern about one of the courses as it seemed raw, we were told it was because it was freshly caught. Seriously? So when the Waygu beef was chewy and tough we said nothing. Pleased that the chef has won so many awards but not happy with our experience and no one seemed to care. An expensive and disappointing evening.
Wow - the tasting menu was the best meal I’ve had in Scotland to date! The ingenuity of the dishes and the presentation - it was a full experience. Also stayed on site overnight - great accommodations with local touches that added personality. A special shout-out to John, Sergio and Pedro for their stellar service. It seems everyone is a bit of a jack of all trades, has secret recipes for favourite cocktails and a story to share from past lives. Absolutely loved our stay.
Absolutely one of the singularly best restaurant dinners of our lives. Impossible to overstate this gem. The chef, an Isle of Skye native is a young culinary genius!
The coffee is the only deal breaker. Reading this fantastic menu and it wraps up with Teamed up with Nespresso. I heard the sound of Pac-Man being eaten in the video game…. I understand the need for repeatable coffee, but pod coffee to me is unacceptable if you are striving to be the best at something. Too many fantastic local roasters and choice beans to
Choose from. So the challenge is, getting staff trained on how to properly extract it.
Do it….
Everything else is lovely! Excellent staff, fun small bites dinner with a great wine pairing.
What all the rest of the reviews say. Room was great.
Breakfast seating area needs work. Super not cozy. But thats just getting picky.
They are trying! 👍
